4 Ingredients For Turning A Dream Into Reality
Everybody can dream!
It’s in the human nature to dream and aspire for better things; but what makes the difference between a dreamer and an achiever is action. So many dreams remain just that- dreams, because there is no corresponding action carried out in the line of those dreams. A dream is nothing without action. Dreams can inspire and motivate you but until you take an action towards realizing them, they will never be materialized
The way to get started is to quit talking and start doing – Walt Disney
So here are 4 ingredients that will help you turn your dreams into reality
Faith: faith is complete trust and confidence in a course. Faith is and remains the only effective antidote to failure. A friend shared with me some of the struggles she was experiencing in a business she newly started. She was finding these struggles very overwhelming and was even contemplating quitting. When she was done narrating, I asked her these two questions
- How much faith do you have in this business?
- How passionate are you about it?
She replied “Oh, I believe in it strongly and I have so much love for it but at times like this, I just feel inadequate and unfit to realize it”. Anybody can turn any dream into reality provided that your heart is in it (faith), you have passion for it (passion) and you are willing to see to it to reality (persistence) no matter the odds. Your conviction and believe in a course will push you to limits you ordinarily would have never thought you could reach. Go back to those dreams of yours and ask yourself this question – Do you really believe in it? Do you have a deep conviction that you can see that dream to reality? BECAUSE UNTIL YOU BELIEVE IT, YOU CANNOT SEE IT
Desire/Passion: love is the strongest and most effective propelling force ever known to mankind. Your passion for your life’s goals will help you persist and persevere. Thomas Edison had a dream of creating an electric bulb. His passion for his dream explains why he persisted even after failing 1000 times. Oprah Winfrey’s passion for talk shows explains why the ‘queen of talk show’ persisted even after being fired from her job with the reason that she was too emotional and therefore inadequate for talk shows. Don’t be deceived, the road to success is not a smooth one. There are bumps in the road and potholes. You cannot persist in the face of struggles unless you have a reason to. So ask yourself these questions and be very honest in answering them
- Are you passionate about that dream you want to pursue?
- Did you chose it because it is what is trending or because you know some people that treaded that path and are presently famous and rich?
- Is that dream your passion?
Imagination/ Visualization: The only limitations are indeed the ones we place on our minds. Allow yourself to see farther than your eyes can see. Activate your imagination. Explore, visualize and see things that have never existed. Some imaginations may even seem too wild and unbelievable but have you not heard that it is the wild imaginations that get things done. The Wright brothers imagined a flying object that could transport people. I am certain that prior to the invention of the airplane, so many people thought it was impossible. Mark Zukerberg imagined connecting the whole world. This sounded unattainable and impossible to many but Facebook has presently achieved that. Today we see the reality of Walt Disney’s wild imaginations. It is wild imaginations when transformed to reality that shakes the world.
Persistence: This is usually the reason why most people give up on their dreams. No matter how much faith you have in yourself and in your dreams and how much love you have for it, without persistence it may be impossible for those dreams to be realized. The truth is that in the course of realizing our dreams, there will be moments we will feel like giving up and moments that will leave us feeling inadequate and incapable of achieving them. For us to live through this times, we must be persistent. I have definitely experienced these moments blogging and it has blessed me with the understanding that persisting through tough times makes us stronger, smarter and wiser. Remember, nobody celebrates quitters no matter how far they may have come. The world celebrates those that persisted and persevered to the end.
Every dream is attainable and you are capable of achieving them. The question is are you willing to utilize and maximize these four ingredients?
