Believe Me, They Will Come- The Success Story of J.K Rowlings

I was set free because my greatest fear had been realized, and I still had a daughter who I adored, and I had an old typewriter and a big idea. And so rock bottom became a solid foundation on which I rebuilt my life-J.K Rowlings

After seven years of graduating from the university. J.K Rowlings saw herself as a failure. By the age of 30, she had already failed in her marriage, jobless and with a child to cater for. During those trying moments, J.K Rowlings even acknowledge attempting suicide at some point.

She was rejected by twelve publishers when she submitted her first manuscript- Harry Porter. According to her, one of the publishers even advised her to seek out another profession as she wasn’t a gifted writer.

Bloomsburg, a publishing house in London decided to publish her novel; and on February 1996, the novel won the British book award for children’s book of the year. In 2000, that same publisher that was rejected by 12 publishing house was named the author of the year. She has gone along to publish more books in the Harry Porter series creating a global brand that is an estimated $15 billion.

In 2004, the onetime struggling single mother, who was begging publishers to accept her manuscript was named the first author to become a billionaire and the second richest woman in the world.

Have you ever been rejected? Have you ever been told pointedly that your dream was unattainable?

When you get into a tight place and everything goes against you, till it seems as though you could not hang on a minute longer, never give up then; for that is just the place and time that the tide will turn- Harnet Beecher Stowe

Rejection is not a feeling that is alien to man… the truth is as some point in life, you would face rejection. They will be times when people will insult your dream or think you insane for believing in your dreams. That is why you must never stop believing, dreaming and fighting for what you believe in.

I have had my shares of rejection, in fact I still face them…but I have come to see them as reminders that I am going somewhere.

When you get over the rejection you face and keep persevering, success will always announce you. The irony of it all is that those people that rejected you will be the first to queue up for what you now have to offer. When a dream is a seed, it can easily be mistaken for a stone; people can easily overlook its potential of becoming a forest. That’s why you mustn’t waste your time trying to convince people to see the potential in your dreams, go ahead and make it a forest; and then you don’t have to announce it anymore.

Do you know Harrison ford? Harrison ford was introduced into acting as a way to overcome his painful shyness.

He was so unimpressive in his first film; a studio executive told him bluntly ‘you’ll never make it in this business’

He had to work as a carpenter and a stage hand to support his family until he was 35. Now, he is the highest grossing actor in American film history…

When you have sown your seed, and have taken the necessary care to water it….they success, power, wealth and fame will come….so don’t stop dreaming!
