You Cannot Have The Answers To Every Questions In Life
Life is a beautiful mystery and it is filled with so many ironies that keep dumbfounding us. I believe these were the ironies the wise king Solomon referred to as “evil under the sun” in one of his books. He witnessed fools occupy high position and referred to as dignitaries while the wise occupy low positions. He saw slaves ride on horsebacks while princes walk barefooted. Life is filled with so many questions we can never provide the answers to.
You can’t explain why a lady that never smoked in her entire life will die of leukemia at 25 but a chain smoker lives and dies of old age
You can’t explain why two healthy parents will birth a sickly and unhealthy child
You can’t explain why someone with a healthy lifestyle will be diagnosed of cancer while another with a very bad feeding habit lives a very long life
You can’t explain why a virgin till marriage will have fertility issues while a lady who have committed series of complicated abortions which makes her possibly likely to encounter fertility problems will give birth without any hassle
You can’t explain why a murderer, a serial killer and a pedophile will live life to its fullest while an innocent, talented and very gifted 14 year old will die of kidney problem
You have been a great and supportive parent but you can explain why your child will commit suicide despite your love and care? You ask yourself questions like – “was I not loving enough?” “What if I was more attentive?” “What if I didn’t show enough love?”
You have been a great wife or husband to your spouse. You have done the best you possibly can but you explain why he/she still divorced you regardless of how much you have tried.
You have been a loyal friend which is why you can’t explain why your best friend will betray your trust despite your loyalty
You try to explain it. You try to answer these questions but you can’t because it is not in your power to. So you decide to invent answers and in doing so, you take responsibility for situations that are beyond your control. In answering them, you make yourself the villain and take on a burden of guilt you don’t deserve. We don’t the answers to every questions in life and it is perfectly okay. It is not a crime to say “I DON’T KNOW!” Bad things happen to good people. That is a harsh reality of life. As much as I wish it was otherwise, it is unfortunately so.
So now is a time for introspection. What guilt are you living with that you shouldn’t live with in the first place? Hey friend, please know this – we are not in ultimate control. Certain things, like death, is beyond anybody’s control. Relive yourself of that guilt. Have a little more compassion on yourself. Forgive yourself. Don’t allow your life be stagnated and made miserable by a painful past. Because in all honesty, we don’t have the answers to all questions.
