Everybody Has A Story
Frankly speaking, I was very skeptical about starting this blog for many reasons. Some of these reasons being that it will bring me out to center stage and that makes me uncomfortable. I love staying backstage, it shields me from microscopic gazes and introspective views. The primary reason being that I will need to transparent about a lot of things in a bid to accomplish my core aim of creating this blog.
I want people to know that some struggles are real and are still very much fought by so many people even though we are in a world where accepting existence of such makes us seem weak. For so long we have pretended like these struggles don’t exist and the question is – How much change has living in that lie effected in us? Every year, countless teens still fall prey to depression and a great number is lost to suicide.
There were days I just surfed through the internet searching for any public figure that will identify with my struggles. I wanted so bad to know that these feelings of rejection and desolation were not peculiar to me nor were they alien to some people. I wanted to know how they fought and won. But the thing is, a lot of people tell us their victories but not the wars they fought to get that win because we are so busy trying to project an image we call perfect. Everybody has a story, whether they are verbal about it or not. Everybody has been down rocky paths no matter how ideal or perfect their life may seem to be. It’s one of the perks that comes with been human.
Feelings of abandonment, rejection and mediocrity; the feeling of emptiness within that you just can’t explain with words, the lust for suicide… They are just feelings and trust me, these feelings are not peculiar to any group of people. These struggles can be won and in winning them, I learnt to appreciate the human will more. In winning them, I saw a unique part of me that only pain could have unveiled. In winning them, I saw tremendous reason to living.
This blog is designed to identify with these struggles and help us grow past them. Everybody has a story. Everybody has demons they have had to exorcise or are still exorcising or need to exorcise. The uniqueness of these stories stems from our individual uniqueness.
