Faith OR Facts ?
I hate statistics. Maybe that explains why I flopped in my statistics exam in college. It is funny how I love math so much but hate the former…. well, I guess that’s a story for another day.
I also hate when people start a statement with ‘that’s not possible’, ‘study shows that…’, ‘science has proven that…’. Reasons upon reasons…. I hate reasons (I’m hating a lot of things today, sorry…), I guess the reason why I hate ‘reasons’ is because I used it to excuse myself into years of purposeless living. Nothing kills a man’s creativity quicker than presenting him with facts or reasons why he can’t. ‘Facts’ is the fastest way to bottle up a man’s potentials and creativity.
Man’s greatest inventions were made when he stepped out of a world of ‘facts and reasons’ into a world of faith. Facts fosters mediocrity, it locks away the ‘god’ in every man. There is a giant in every man and when that giant meets faith- the result is ground breaking success. Success stories are written by men who are not afraid to belief, to dare and to take risk.
Henry ford-founder of Ford Motors Company
Facts/Reasoning– you are wasting your time. You are an illiterate. It is impossible.
Helen Keller- first deaf-blind person to earn a Bachelor Degree of Arts
Facts/Reasoning– you are deaf and blind, your chance of succeeding in this world is very small.
Martin Luther King- dreamt of a racism-free America…which came to pass
Facts/Reasoning– you are just one black man, how do you think you can stop years of racism?
J.K Rowlings- billionaire author of the Harry Porter Series
Facts/Reasoning– turned down by editors who told her she didn’t have what it took to be an author.
Stanley Tam- billionaire owner of US plastic corps
Facts/Reasoning– you are an illiterate, how do you think you can succeed without former education?
I can go on and on about this great men (believe me, the list is endless), but they all have on thing in common-they chose to look beyond facts and reasons and step into the world of faith and success. You too can make that same decision, remember, it is not the events in our life that shapes us but our belief as to what those events means to us. It is our decisions in life, and not our conditions that shape us.
Chose to believe in yourself no matter what people say. Chose to fight for what you believe in despite odds. Odds are probabilities from chains of previous events. That some people without formal education end up poor doesn’t mean I would. That some people born poor end up poor for life doesn’t mean my story would be the same. That some people born with fat gene end up obese doesn’t mean I can’t lose weight. The power to shape your destiny is in your hands. Decide today to step into the world of faith and see your life basking in the euphoria of greatness!
Society may predict, but only you can determine your destiny.
