Life Is Not That Complicated
Life is not that Complicated
Spoiler alert! Life isn’t that complicated.
Some years back, during my quiet time, I scribbled down what I’m about to share with you. Afterwards, I wrote it down on the front page of all my study books and during that period of time, I resolved to read it daily. I wasn’t always faithful in keeping to that resolution but at least I tried, and I believe that’s what matters.
What some people fail to understand, (and at a point in my life, I was one of them), is that developing mastery over your emotions is a conscious act that takes work and effort. It is never spontaneous and if you are not ready to be deliberate about it, you can as well live on in self-pity and mediocrity. The bitter truth is this – attaining emotional maturity is a conscious and deliberate act. This is really what self-control is all about. Being in control of yourself, feelings and emotions. I think King Solomon explained it best in Prov 25:28, “Like a city whose walls are broken through is a person who lacks self-control”. So here is that scribbling I talked about earlier…
- Missing somebody Call them
- Want to be understood? Explain
- Have questions? Ask them
- Don’t like something? Say it nicely
- Like something? Declare it
- Want something? Ask for it
- Stressed? Let go
- Love someone? Say it to the person
So you see? Life can be quite simple. Maybe not perfect, but less complicated. You deserve to be happy. So put an effort in making yourself happy. You are worth it.
