A dimension worth appreciating. Hard times reveals to us our limitations as humans. It makes us see our need for God utmost presence and guidance in our lives.

Sometimes, you need to spend time crawling alone through shadows to truly appreciate what it is to stand in the sun. The best times of life is when everything seems bleak, confusing and so out of place; but we decide nevertheless to keep going. During these times, you discover a new aspect of you. There are lessons to be learned during hard times. The difference between a stumbling block and a stepping stone is solely on how you see it.

Gratitude is one effective way to live through hard times. True contentment does not come from having every desire of yours fulfilled but by being grateful over the little things of life. Happy people are not people with perfect lives but people that have decided to be grateful for the small things of life. At every point in life, there is always something in our lives worth being thankful for. While looking at the people you feel are better than you, don’t fail to look down at the people you have an advantage over. Let the people steps ahead of you inspire you and not depress you. Let the people you have certain life advantages over provoke gratitude in your heart.

Get a pen and write down the things in your life that you are grateful for no matter how inconsequential you think it is. Reflect on them and in time, you will find your spirit alive with thanksgiving.
