Overcoming Depression

“I just want this pain to stop”, “nobody cares”, “I would be happier if I were dead”…

Those words sound familiar to you? -because they do sound familiar to me. It’s painful to see the number of suicidal cases in the world rise every day. Every week, someone is lost to suicide somewhere in the world. The latest trend is streaming one’s suicide live on social media-how sad is that? From Katelyn Davis, Mam-Dade, Fredrick Jay Bowdy, and the list keep going.

I struggled with depression most of my life and I’ve had my shares of suicide attempt, so I mean it when I said I know what it feels like to just want to die. But I pulled through despite all because there is always something to live for. So today, I will help you see why you must keep living.

The pain you feel is only a phase- depression makes you believe that the pain you feel would never go away, so you see suicide as the only escape from that pain. But that’s a lie, because no matter what we go through in life, our fears, our joy, our pain and struggles; they are just phases in life. That was how I pulled through, by reminding myself that the pain I felt was just a phase and every phase must give room to a new phase. So if you experiencing heart break today, don’t worry. Some day when you are with your perfect guy, you will look back at that phase of heartbreak and you will smile. No matter what you are going through, no matter how awful it is, just know it is a phase that will surely fade away.

Somebody needs to hear your story. Yes, somebody needs to hear you story, you are somebody’s reason to live and believe again- but you must live first. When I share my struggles with people, I am amazed at how much my story transforms lives. Ever heard of Nick Vucijic? This was one of the people that made me see reasons to want to live again. Nick is a motivational speaker who was born without limbs; he would have never affected the millions of lives (mine included) he had affected if he had succeeded in killing himself when he was a child. Joyce Meyer is a televangelist that is touching lives all over the world. Of course these lives would not have been touched if she had succeeded in committing suicide after years of enduring endless abuse in the hands of her father.

So you see, no matter what you are going through, you need to keep living because your story can change lives. There is a hero inside of you

Next time, I will help you see more reasons why you must keep living.

  2. Hey there this is kinda of off topic but I was wanting to know if blogs use WYSIWYG editors or if you
have to manually code with HTML. I’m starting a blog soon but have no coding expertise so I
wanted to get guidance from someone with experience. Any help
    would be greatly appreciated!

  3. I do trust all the ideas you’ve introduced on your
post. They are very convincing and can definitely work.
Nonetheless, the posts are very brief for starters.

May you please lengthen them a bit from next time? Thanks for the post.

  4. Informative article, just what I wanted to find.
